unpretentiousness is appealing…trendiness takes a backseat
to the ambitious turnout from the kitchen." Seven Days,

30
years of experience and a passion for
excellent italian dining |
| For
us, the opening of L'Amante in May 2003 was the culmination
of many years of hard work in some of the best Italian restaurants
in both the US and Italy. While not trying to recreate Italy
in Vermont we set out to emulate the best Italian traditions
of hospitality in food, wine and atmosphere. The straightforward
philosophy behind L'Amante is to use the best available local
ingredients along with distinct, indispensable imported items
and combine them in inventive ways; while being true to the
integrity of Italian cuisine. The result is a regional Italian
menu comprised of simple, exciting, delicious food in the
Italian way. This, combined with an extensive, mostly Italian,
wine list, a casually-elegant dining room and professional,
friendly service results in a fantastic dining experience.
From
Boston and Cape Cod to Hawaii, Italy,
and now Downtown Burlington
We
bring a total of 30 years experience in the restaurant industry
to L'Amante. Kathi has worked in every aspect of front-of-house
operations in many different types of dining establishments
in the Boston Area, Cape Cod, Florida, Hawaii, Vermont and
Italy. After attending the New England Culinary Institute,
Kevin cooked at some of the most highly acclaimed Italian
restaurants in the Boston area including Pignoli and IL
Capriccio, where he spent two years as the Sous Chef. He
has also worked in the Michelin 2-star restaurant San Domenico
in Imola, Italy and Osteria di Rendola in Tuscany. We visit
Italy often to see old friends, catch up on food and wine
and tour wineries.

Before opening L'Amante in Burlington Kevin and Kathi owned
and operated a restaurant of the same name in Gloucester, Massachusetts
for four years. While in Gloucester they cultivated a loyal
clientele and garnered excellent reviews by the local press
including the Boston Globe. In 2002 the Gloucester restaurant
was sold and, after an exhaustive search, a new location was
found here in Burlington. Since opening Kevin and Kathi have
continued the tradition of cultivating a loyalty among its diners
and, once again, L'Amante has received fantastic reviews in
both the Burlington Free Press and Seven Days.
